Sacred Cacao Bliss Balls
It's all about chocolate at this time of the year, but if you're like me, and the thought of the sickly sweet commercial Easter eggs makes you feel ill just thinking about them, then these
cacao balls might be for you.
Pure decadence, made with raw ingredients, and full of goodness, the nuts and cacao will give you an energy boost to help get you through the long Easter weekend.
Gluten free, dairy free, egg free, and vegan.
INGREDIENTS:
50g sunflower seeds
50g hemp seeds
100g macadamia nuts (cashew or brasil work too)
150g pitted dates
100g cacao paste (or 75g coconut butter & 3 tblspns of cacao powder)
Dash of maple syrup (optional depending on your sweet tooth, the dates are plenty for me)
Cacao powder for dusting
A note on cacao: Smile Cacao is my absolute favourite cacao to use. It is whole and pure, and minimally processed. This one is perfect for ceremonial use, a daily treat, or for recipes like this one.
METHOD:
Thermomix:
Put all the ingredients into the bowl and blitz for 40 seconds on speed 9. Scape down and repeat for another 20 seconds if it hasn't all come together.
Blender:
Place nuts and seeds into the processor and blend until you have coursely chopped them.
Add the dates and combine until it's all begun to come together.
Add the cacao paste and maple syrup and blend until combined.
Balls:
Roll into tablespoon sized balls, and dust with cacao powder or leave as is.
Place in fridge until firm.
Enjoy and happy Easter!
