Patchouli
“I am one with the earth, I am one with my body.”
Patchouli is all gentleness and love.
It is a grounding essence, and helps ease apprehention and negativity in the physical body with love and ease.
From the mint family, Patchouli has been used for centuries in Asia to fight infection, cool fevers, calm headaches, and work against insect and snake bites. It has a long history in the perfume trade, but since the 1960's it has been associated as a hippie frangrance. It's been told Madonna even used the scent on her “Like a Prayer” album packaging in the hopes of evoking the Age of Aquarius.
Patchouli oil acts as an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiseptic, a digestive stimulant, and insecticidal.
This oil helps to dispell toxicity in the body. It may help with insect bites, hives, acne, the digestive system, weight reduction, appetite curbing.
Because of its calming 'hippie peace' properties, Patchouli can be used to relieve anxiety. Diffuse or rub into the back of the neck to help calm during troubled times.
Combine with lavender oil to soothe bites and stings.
Apply topically with myrrh to help with stretch marks and to soothe skin irritations.
Blends well with bergamot, frankinscense, lemongrass and sandalwood.
